our love

our love lies in this little space between
we never cross

it lies in the unsaid and silences
we never violate

it lies in gaze and the smile
we never exchange

it lies in the music and songs
we never sing

it lies in the letters and cards
we never write

our love we nurture
not by tight embraces and deep kisses

but our love we nurture
by abiding to these things

Dialectics of living

Oh! the ecstasy of fulfillment coupled with
the agony of foolishness

the joy of bringing joy coupled with
the disappointment from callousness without

some people come at a cost
some things come at a cost
none worth keeping anyway

wo zamana kal hi guzra

Manzil tak pahunche nahi
Lekin jitna chali saath tere
Wo lamhe yaad hai

Inn palo ko jab sochti
Aksar ek maayusi chaa jati
Kyu poora hua nahi wo safar?
Ya hamesha chalte hi kyu nahi rahe hum?
Kahi toh pahunch jaate…

Lekin ye zamana kal hi guzra

Aaj jab tera khayal aaya
Wo sawal gayab the
Wo maayusi aur
Tu bhi
Ab bas wo pal hai
Bedaag, bejhijhak, bindaas

Hui ek naye zamane ki shuruat

How deeply did you let go

In the end

these things matter most:

How well did you love?
How fully did you live?
How deeply did you let go?

- Gautam Buddha

Need serious working in areas referred to by the last two, especially the last.

The other day I had a professor look into my eyes and tell me that the world sucks, life is unfair but we need to move on and according to this, truly move on.
Guess that's pretty much how it is.

Simple but ridiculously tough.

More on love & NYC!

Sometime back I proclaimed my love for NYC in this post.

During my extremely productive study breaks these days (more productive than the study session itself! Isn't this always the case?!), I end up reading about "stuff" on the internet. And look what i came across!

Anais Nin here expressing her love for NYC in a simple and yet awesome way: (Yes, awesome it is!)

I’m in love with N.Y. It matches my mood. I’m not overwhelmed. It is the suitable scene for my ever ever heightened life. I love the proportions, the amplitude, the brilliance, the polish, the solidity. I look up at Radio City insolently and love it. It is all great, and Babylonian. Broadway at night. Cellophane. The newness. The vitality. True, it is only physical. But it’s inspiring. Just bring your own contents, and you create a sparkle of the highest power. I’m not moved, not speechless. I stand straight, tough, and I meet the impact. I feel the glow and the dancing in everything. The radio music in the taxis, scientific magic, which can all be used lyrically. That’s my last word. Give New York to a poet. He can use it. It can be poetized. Or maybe that’s a mania of mine, to poetize. I live lightly, smoothly, actively, ears and eyes wide open, alert, oiled! I feel a kind of exhilaration and the tempo is like that of my blood. I’m at once beyond, over and in New York, tasting it fully.

:) What more can I say!
Just that she wrote this in 1934 and the city has maintained its magic till date!

Quoted from here.

I heart NYC just because i do!

Narrowing down favourites is one of the things I do often and always so intentionally. Isn't it just nice to know where you belong at least in trivial matters of food, place, clothing style, colours etc. Also saves a lot of time while deciding on questions related to such everyday stuff!

So this post is about my favourite city. I haven't traveled the world (not yet!) but then if i wait for that, I will never be able to list any favourites as of today. There will always be "yet-to-do" things and "yet-to-see" places. But I am going to go ahead and make favourites anyways!

And so...

My favourite city (drum rolls) is NEW YORK!

There are a million others who would say that too and I do not mind being "one-of-the-many"! Besides I think I should prioritize honesty over exclusivity in the matter of favourites. Fair enough, right?

And so New York it is :)

No matter how hard I try, I always fail to exactly describe the way it made me feel during my first visit in December 2012. A short trip of three days is undoubtedly "THE BEST TIME" I've had in the United States since August 2012.

It is free, lets me be..just lets me be and this is perhaps its best part. It is fast but fun - you will not miss the small happiness and minute details in its crazy pace. It is beautiful - with architecture, food, brands, parks and food. It is not perfect - narrow streets, which most of the times, is clogged with taxis and buses; starbucks paper cup lying somewhere on the road; leaking pipes (which I nonetheless hope will be repaired soon); small cramped up local eateries wherein you will have to wait minimum 15 minutes to be seated; subways and dark and cozy subway stations; insane number of tourists everyday everywhere!

And I can keep going on.. but again listing these apparent things does not justify my preference for it. There is something inexplicable about it. It is in the air. You will feel it as soon as your plane descends for landing!

If I have ever used the word "beautiful" most appropriately it has to be now - It is simply BEAUTIFUL!

Dreams

I live you in my dreams.

Sometimes with a happy feeling and a happy ending.
Sometimes with a happy feeling but an abrupt ending.
Sometimes with a happy feeling, eternally.

I live us in my dreams.
Just the way we always wished.

Naive philosopher

Life-

Within us or among us?
In the head or the heart?
In the freedom of blues
Or in the web of red?
In quantity or quality?
In truth or belief?
In the apparent or the obscured?
In the greens of the field or the grays of the concrete?
In rains or sunshine?

In lazy walks through the labyrinths of thought
Or in resolute march towards its core?
